Bloomers & Frocks, Vintage Clothes For Modern Women

Located at 1628 S 1st St, Austin, TX 78704

Bloomers & Frocks is a vintage clothing store located on South 1st Street in Austin, TX. The store owner, Rebekka Adams, found a vintage tilt-a whirl with the vision of transforming it into both signage and a selfie spot for visitors. This was a special treat to work with a former coworker at the Texas Historical Commission's Main Street Program. I'm incredibly proud of Rebekka for becoming a true entrepreneur, the spirit of Main Street, and opening her own business.

The Tilt-A-Whirl Ride was invented by Herbert Sellner with its debut at the Minnesota State Fair in 1926. Originally, said to be made entirely from wood. Today, they are produced here in Texas, at Larson International in Plainview. This vintage tilt-a-whirl, a combination of metal, fiberglass and wood.

Thanks Rebekka for the opportunity to work on one of my favorite combinations--history & art! Please go check out her store and take a whirl in her new, but vintage, Selfie Station.
